SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Filipino Cultural Center marks the location where for the first time Masskara dancers, all the way from Bacolod, Philippines, performed in the U.S.
Bacolod — known as the ‘city of smiles’ — is home to the world-famous Masskara Festival held every October.
In a mission to promote tourism and Filipino culture, Bacolod officials have brought the Masskara festival to California.
“It’s our pride and an honor to be able to share with you part of our culture in Bacolod and Negros occidental,” said Councilor em Ang.
According to Bacolod officials — a lot of time and preparation went into making the trip to the U.S.
And now that they are here, they say they are ready to represent well for their city and the Philippines.
