LINCOLN CITY, OR — Monday was the first total solar eclipse touching the continental United States since 1979, and it happened down on the Oregon Coast in Lincoln City and Newport at 10:16 am.
The totality of eclipse here was 1 minute, 58 seconds.
Here in Oregon, the partial eclipse began at 9:04 am — and this morning, people came out early to take their spots by the coast and on the side of the road.
One Fil-Am said the experience was spiritual more than anything.
“I am closer to God. That is His manifestation of His power,” said Manny Panilag, witnessed great American eclipse.
Truly a once in a lifetime experience for kababayans who really made an effort to witness the great American eclipse, and witnessing the celestial event with family and friends made the experience was all the more memorable.
