Which Pinoy sports stars hit the red carpet at “Manny” Hollywood premiere?

HOLLYWOOD — From the Philippines to Hollywood, sports and cinema, some of the brightest stars gathered to watch the premier of the Manny Pacquiao documentary, simply titled “Manny”.

“I’m so thankful and happy that my documentary is shown here in Hollywood,” Manny Pacquiao said. “And there’s a lot of celebrities.”

The premier also became a chance for two other popular Filipino athletes to join Manny on the red carpet.

Both currently training in Los Angeles, figure skater Michael Martinez and high school basketball prodigy Kobe Paras were themselves star struck by some of their Hollywood favorites.

“It’s crazy,” said Paras. “I didn’t expect this and I’m really proud for Manny for having this. It’s just amazing how he holds Filipinos high.”

“Pretty amazing, especially being here,” Martinez said. “I’m really star struck to watch Manny Pacquiao’s movie.

Meanwhile, the speculation of a Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather mega-bout was the talk of the red carpet.

But the Pacman says the waiting game continues.

“It’s on the brink of becoming reality,” said Sugar Ray Leonard. “If this fight comes to fruition, it’s going to break all records.”

Arianne Celeste of Ultimate Fighting Championship said: “Everybody wants to see that fight. It’s the dream fight. Hopefully one day.

However, one man familiar with both fighters says the fight won’t happen.

Alex Ariza, Pacquiao’s former strength and conditioning coach, now works with the undefeated Mayweather. He says there’s one man to blame if the fight fails.

“It’s not going to happen,” Ariza explained. “We’re fighting May 2nd, but it’s not going to be Manny Pacquiao. Hopefully, eventually Bob Arum will blow away in the wind or whatever. As soon as we get rid of him, we can get it on.”

Top Rank says that Pacquiao’s camp has agreed to all of Mayweather’s terms while HBO and Showtime are negotiating the pay per view television rights of the proposed mega-fight.

If the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight does not happen, several opponents have been floated around for both fighters. Mayweather may have a rematch with Miguel Cotto while Danny Garcia and Amir Kahn may face Pacquiao.

What is wrong with Mayweather? He doesn’t want to fight Pacquiao because he is so afraid that he might lose? or just plain scared of Pacquiao.
