Water and power interruptions hit Tagaytay City following Taal volcano’s eruption

Residents from Laurel, Batangas did not think twice about walking several kilometers uphill to ensure their safety.

They had to vacate the Bagong Tubig Elementary School, which had no water nor electricity.

Several police vehicles arrived and took the children and senior citizens.

The PNP says evacuation is mandatory for those living near Taal volcano.

The city administrator of Tagaytay says despite frequent tremors — no casualties or damage have been reported so far.

But the water supply remains a problem.

Tourists have left Tagaytay since the whole city experienced ashfall Sunday — this including Talisay in Batangas.

At least one lakeside resort and the famous picnic grove are now deserted and are covered in volcanic ash.

Meanwhile, President Duterte conducted an aerial inspection of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon — orCalabarzon — on his way to Manila from Davao City.

He has ordered all concerned government agencies to provide aid to residents affected by Taal’s restiveness.
