Watchdog group files lawsuit against Fil-Am Attorney General

In Utah, a watchdog group filed a lawsuit yesterday against the office of the State’s Attorney General, Fil-Am Sean Reyes — arguing that he unlawfully withheld documents between his office and Republican interest groups.

According to a press release today from the Center for Media and Democracy or CMD, the group filed a request last March for Reyes’s correspondence with the Republican Attorney Generals Association and the rule of law defense fund.

CMD claims that Reyes failed to include at least 13 more interactions they were aware of, violating Utah’s government records access and management act.

However, Reyes’s office posits that those interactions were “unofficial political campaign activities,” and therefore not public access.
