Vinyl music makes a comeback

Vinyl vendors said that kids started posting about their grandparents’ and parents’ players and vinyl collections on social media a few years ago — and since then, the music of yesteryears has been brought back to life.

As the music industry made $5.4 billion in the first half of 2019 – vinyl records made $224.1 million or $8.6 million units sold according to the Recording Industry Association of America’s mid-year report. It’s up by 13 percent compared to last year.

Vinyl records also sold nearly as much as CD sales in the same period — $247.89 million, or 18.6 million units sold.
