UNION CITY, Calif. – Jose Marie Borja Viceral, more popularly known as “Vice Ganda” is one of the busiest and most successful comedians in the Philippines. The 37-year old Kapamilya star has his own late-night talk show, Gandang Gabi Vice, continues to be one of the main hosts of the hit variety show, Showtime, and has starred in three of the highest-grossing films in Philippine cinema, “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy”, “Sisterakas” and “Praybeyt Benjamin”.

With so many achievements in just a few years, is Vice Ganda exhausted?

“I’m physically tired. But I’m enjoying it. This is what I love to do,” Vice Ganda remarked.

He has so much passion and energy for his work that Vice Ganda even found time to squeeze in performances for kababayans in the United States. Most recently, he packed the James Logan High School auditorium in Union City, California. He shared, “I’m so proud because not only have I achieved so much, but because I’m able to make a lot of people happy…not just Filipinos in the Philippines, but Filipinos around the world.”

But it hasn’t always been so smooth-sailing for Vice Ganda. In the past, he’s been slammed for his style of “Comedy Bar-style” of comedy, which sometimes makes fun of other people. “I’m just really spontaneous and my material comes from my audience and what’s happening during the show…what I see, what I hear, how my audience responds to my jokes,” he reasoned.

So for his detractors, Vice Ganda has this to say: “I don’t really have that much to say about them because they don’t matter to me.”

And for those who love and support him, he send out this message: They fill my heart with so much joy. They make me want to be better at what I do every single day.”
