“Valerian” stars on love, and how it can save the universe

The sci-fi flick “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” was a futuristic story, first told in a graphic novel in 1967. It took decades before technology caught up so the story can be told onscreen. Its technical effects is surely astounding, according to the cast — but at its heart, they say what their movie offers is a universal message of love and hope.
