NEW JERSEY, NJ — On Sunday, the United States team beat the international team once again, 19 to 11, at the 2017 President’s Cup held at the Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City.
On the first day of the four-day tournament, Thursday, the Americans won the foursomes match 3.5 to 1.5.
They played strong at Friday’s four-ball 4.5 to 0.5, and continued to push the lead 3.5 to 0.5 at Saturday morning’s foursomes and 3 to 1 at the afternoon four-ball.
The international team displayed good golf on Sunday’s singles matches, where Filipino Australian Jason Day, currently ranked number 7 in the world, won 2 up and 1 against Charley Hoffman of the America team.
But the U.S. still finished off the round, 4.5 to 3.5.
The last time the international team won the tourmament was in 1998. They can take a shot at winning the cup in two years, when they meet at the 2019 President’s Cup in Australia, Jason Day’s home country.
