The Vatican is back in the hot seat in Geneva facing tough questions over clerical sexual abuse within the Catholic Church.
Today, the United Nations committee against torture grilled representatives from the Holy Sea.
This comes after another U.N. committee issued a damning report earlier this year on the church’s handling of the sex abuse crisis.
This report accuses the church of being more concerned with its reputation than protecting victims.
But now the U.N. committee compared the Vatican’s handling of the priest sex abuse worldwide to torture.
This finding could open the flood-gates to abuse lawsuits dating back decades against the church.
After all, there are not statutes of limitations on torture cases.
