In the middle of relief and recovery efforts in the Philippines following Typhoon Yolanda, the U.S. has sworn in Philip Goldberg as the new ambassador to the Philippines.
The U.S. began its aid in the Philippines without an ambassador in Manila.
Ambassador Harry Thomas left his post on Oct. 16.
Goldberg, who was sworn in by Secretary of State John Kerry today, plans to get to the Philippines as soon as possible to assist in the aid efforts.
The U.S. has so far committed $47 million to typhoon relief in the Philippines.
