U.S. priest arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing Filipino altar boys

A shocking story out of the Philippines — an American Catholic priest was arrested in the island of Biliran in Eastern Visayas, after a number of alleged victims came forward, accusing him of sexual abuse.

77-year old Kenneth Bernard Hendricks, who served for 37 years in the Philippines, is being accused by 10 men, for sexually abusing them when they were boys.

Hendricks allegedly abused altar boys, between the ages of seven and 12, in his residence — taking baths with them and molesting the victims alone or with other boys. He reportedly warned them that if they told anyone, they would all go to prison.

U.S. authorities are now trying to gather more evidence from victims and potential witnesses in both the Philippines and the US.

In convicted, Hendricks could face up to 30 years in prison.

The case is being handled by the US attorney’s office in the southern district of Ohio – where Hendricks was previously based.
