Trump gov’t to continue denying new DACA applications

The Trump administration announced Tuesday it will continue to reject new Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA applications, as well as limit the renewals for more than 640,000 young undocumented immigrants known as Dreamers.

The U.S. government said it will ‘reject without prejudice’ DACA applications from those currently not enrolled in the Obama-era program, not only impacting new applicants but also more than 66,000 undocumented youth who turned 15 years old after September 2017.

Under the new government guidelines, current DACA recipients will only be eligible for one-year extensions, rather than the two-year protections they enjoyed since 2012.
