NEW YORK CITY – Last Friday and Saturday, New York’s iconic Empire State Building was lit with the colors of the Philippine flag.
The 103-story skyscrapers’ LED lights were lit with the red, white, blue and yellow — to raise awareness and support for the Philippines, as it recovers from Typhoon Yolanda.
“I feel proud and happy, knowing everyone’s supporting us as we go through this tragedy,” Anne Gumato, a New York resident, said.
Flor Santos, a resident of Jersey City, New Jersey said, “This is definitely a big deal, for a building like this to represent the colors of the Filipino flag.”
