LAS VEGAS – Top Rank CEO and Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has finally spoken up after Philippine Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Kim Henares reminded the boxing star to settle his tax obligations.

Pacquiao reportedly owes about $50 million in unpaid taxes in the Philippines.

But Arum, at least for now, says Henares and the Philippine government should just focus on supporting their boxing champ in his April 12 fight.

“This government of the Philippines is really out of control and that woman should be ashamed of herself,” Arum said. “You have got to be ashamed of yourself, lady. He is the icon of the Philippines, fighting anything that he is required to do. There’s no reason why he can’t do it next Monday or Tuesday, rather than two or three days before one of the biggest fights of his career.”

Shame on you Arum. You are very disrespectful to Ms. Henares. By the way I’m repeating that her name is Ms. Henares and not “this LADY” and you should be ashamed of yourself Arum and not Ms. Henares. I was surprised that you had the nerve and guts to go to the Philippines. .I agree that the timing of reminding Manny about his back taxes before his bout is wrong but you Arum have no right to disrespect a government official who is just doing her job.

@Joe Peralta this is America not Philippines your in my country and Arum home we can say what ever we want say do you understand. Ms Henares should have reminded Manny after the fight, about the tax money that he his to pay Philippines, I don’t think he going to run away. So please you should be shame of yourself in saying bad things about Arum a American that is 100% in supporting your fighter from the Philippines oh did you forget that? So filipino please show a little class.

    I agree with Arum.

Pacquiao fights for the People of the Philippines, all he did was bring honor to the country, he’s actually the Pride of Phillipines.

The B.I.R. commissioner should’ve waited 2-3 days after the fight, for me it’s just inappropriate for her to do that even though she was just doing her job.

Sen. Cayetano was right,“Don’t be overacting, or Kulang sa Pansin,”
