REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A Filipino family has died in what appears to be a double murder and suicide in the Northwest.
The suspect, 78-year-old Honorario Yango, allegedly shot and killed his 39-year-old step-daughter Christine Dela Isla and 11-year-old step-granddaughter Ana-Lia Cowherd, before turning the gun on himself.
The Filipino Community Center in Seattle, Wash. was shocked by the incident.
The incident reportedly happened in front of Yango’s 10-year-old step-grandson who called 911.
A blog post from Ana-Lia that stated her grandfather threatened to kill her was reportedly discovered on social media site Wattpad.
In previous posts, the fifth grader reportedly revealed Yango had been molesting her since the third grade.
Police are still investigating the apparent murder suicide, and they say the 10-year-old survivor is reportedly staying with relatives.
