Why are New York City subway riders taking their pants off in the middle of winter?
Filipino-American Dave Eng is one of the organizers of this prank created by the comedy group called Improv Everywhere.
“One of our big missions here in Improv Everywhere is to make sure that we make people smile and cause scenes in public, and that’s something a lot of people can do around the world… while this is an unauthorized or, unsanctioned or unpermitted event, the police department usually is very supportive of us.”
Founder Charlie Todd says, the very first No Pants Subway ride prank started in New York in 2002 – with only 7 pantless riders.
Today, this subway stripdown happens in about 60 cities, in over 25 countries.
