The Filipino Channel’s OKGo reaches milestone

OAKLAND, Calif. – About 5,000 people flocked to the home of the NBA champions, Oracle Arena, on Sunday to attend The Filipino Channel’s (TFC) One Kapamilya Go event, which has hit a milestone. It’s the first Filipino event at the Oracle Arena and fans came in droves to see their favorite Kapamilya Stars.

The show was headlined by the stars of the hit Kapamilya teleserye, Pangako Sa ‘Yo — Ian Veneracion, Jodi Sta. Maria, Angelica Panganiban, Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Thou Reyes and DJ Jhaiho.

One fan exclaimed, “I watch Pangako Sa ‘Yo because I really love it!”

Another fan expressed, “It’s great — there’s drama…there’s romance!”

Veneracion, who plays conflicted politician Eduardo Buenavista, said, “Everyday’s a party because we’re all friends on the set. The Macaspacs and the Buenavistas — they’re enemies when you watch the show. But on the set, we all eat together. We’re like a family.”

Thou Reyes, who plays Takong, best friend to Ina Macaspac, said they are giving their best to make the show a must-watch every night.  He said, “We tape almost everyday.  The staff, the crew, the actors — we’re all working very hard.”

Singers Charice, Erik Santos and Morissette Amon also brought the house down with their performances.

Organizers from The Filipino Channel said this year’s One Kapamilya Go was the most fan engaging.

Ester Solis from Hayward, California was honored as the “Super Fan”, after she sent out 200,000 tweets on her idols, Bernardo and Padilla.

She said, “I want to show my love for them. This is the only way I can do it — by tweeting. That’s the only way I can show my love for them.”

Fans were also surprised to see their images in a same-day video edit by of the day’s highlights and were delighted to see pictures of themselves shown on the big screen with Padilla.

Kababayans were also treated to an opportunity to take pictures with the championship trophy of the Golden State Warriors and get their photos taken with various TFC talents.

Local officials also came to support One Kapamilya Go.  The Mayor’s Office of Oakland even declared Oct. 25 One Kapamilya Go Day.

One Kapamilya Go was truly a night to remember for TFC fans, who are looking forward to an even bigger and more star-studded event next year.
