REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Balitang America was recently honored with trophies by the 35th Annual Telly Awards — the premier award honoring the finest film and video productions here around the world.
The BA documentary “Skating on Thin Ice” produced and reported by Steve Angeles won a bronze trophy.
Steve’s documentary followed the story of history-making Filipino ice skater Michael Martinez as he captivated the Philippines when he competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia.
Also winning a bronze trophy is BA’s technology report on revolutionizing the money transfer business, produced and reported by North America Bureau Chief Paul Henson.
Paul reported on a Silicon Valley start-up that aims to reduce the cost of money transfer by allowing person to person transactions using a smartphone.
Paul and Steve’s pieces were shot by Jeremiah Ysip, and edited by Jon Santos and Daniel Manansala.
Meantime, Adobo Nation won a bronze trophy for its feature entitled “The Prodigy”, about 11-year-old muay thai fighter Justin Rodriguez.
