Team Gilas impresses the world at FIBA despite losses

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Team Philippines had a tough start at the 2014 FIBA World Cup at the Centro Deportivo San Pablo in Spain over the weekend, but Gilas Pilipinas showed that it could competitively play against basketball superpowers.

Team Gilas started the tournament in a close fought game against Croatia, losing in overtime to a score of 81-78.

The next day, the players had another difficult outing against Greece which resulted in an 82-70 loss.

After putting up a valiant effort, Team Gilas fell short again against the third-ranked team in the world, Argentina, suffering their third straight loss with a score of 85-81.

Gilas has two more basketball games in advance. They play Puerto Rico and Senegal later this weekend.
