Taal volcano evacuees in desperate need of hygiene kits and cleaning supplies

PHILIPPINES — The local government of Tagaytay is appealing for donations of hygiene kits and cleaning supplies for its evacuation centers.

Tagaytay City Mayor Agnes Delgado-Tolentino says they are preparing for an extended stay in evacuation centers of residents affected by Taal volcano’s restiveness.

As of last Friday, more than 6,000 evacuees remain in three evacuation centers in Tagaytay city.

“Meron kaming itinalagang pickup points na anim na lugar para sa aming constituents…. pag nagkita na sila dun sa anim na yun, may pagdadalhan sa kanila na tatlong places lang.”

In the municipality of Mataas na Kahoy, residents in some villages have been allowed to return to their homes.

Three villages are on partial lockdown, and even other villages are now considered safe zones – including Upa and Calingatan.

Six villages are on total lockdown — these include Lumang lipa, San Sebastian, and Manggahan.

In the municipality of Balete, villages near Taal lake are on total lockdown.

More than twenty thousand evacuees there are in need of relief supplies.
