REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – The driver suspected of killing two woman, including Filipina airport worker Cristina de Leon, in a hit-and-run crash in San Jose, California last September 2 has been arrested.
Police apprehended 24-year old Danny Coleman, a resident of East Palo Alto last Friday in Union City. Prosecutors have already filed murder charges against Coleman, a suspected gang member, over the weekend.
62-year old de Leon, a Filipina, and her co-worker, 63-year old Carmen Zavala, were on their way to work at the San Jose International Airport early morning on Labor Day, when Coleman crashed onto them in his Mercedes.
Police said after the deadly crash, Coleman left on foot.
Coleman is reportedly not the registered owner of the Mercedes, but authorities said it was not stolen.
Balitang America is still trying to reach the de Leon family for their reaction to the suspect’s arrest. For more information, you may contact Henni Espinosa at henni_espinosa@abs-cbn.com.
