Suspect arrested in brutal beating of Fil-Am teen

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Troung Son Huynh, 25, was arrested at his San Jose home yesterday by police for allegedly attacking 17-year-old Filipino American Christian Rasner in a mall parking lot on March 11th.

According to authorities, Huynh was the one who physically struck Rasner causing him to fall to the ground.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the assault was not gang motivated, much to the relief of Rasner’s parents.

“It reassured us that this guy has no gang ties so he’s just an idiot and there’s no issue on myself or any of our family members so that also helps us relax a little bit,” said Greg Rasner.

“I feel as his mom a little bit relived that somehow we gotten the justice we were seeking for our son,” said Maria Rasner. “Now I can focus more on my son’s recovery.”

The other suspect in question has not been named but the Rasners has been made aware of his involvement in the case.

“Just that he’s a minor and that he was a witness only and that he didn’t actually assault Christian,” said Greg. “His only mistake was that he didn’t come forward earlier.”

Recently, doctors found a pocket of fluid in the back of Christian’s head causing an infection that may require surgery; however, doctors were able to administer some antibiotics to hold off on surgery.

“He’s been moving a lot the whole morning so we wanted him to relax,” said Maria. “So we’ll see. Hopefully the antibiotics will definitely heal that infection so he doesn’t have to do another surgery.”

Christian’s parents say that despite this recent infection that they are still relieved that Christian was able to wiggle his fingers and toes on command but Maria says that she will only be able to relax once her son is out of the ICU.
