NEW YORK – Among the first One Kapamilya Go stars to arrive in town is Tony Award winner and The Voice Philippines coach Lea Salonga…

Less than 24 hours after she arrived in New York—Salonga revisited Broadway—where she became a star.

In the middle of the place that’s close to her heart—Salonga began filming ABS-CBN’s Christmas Station ID called “Magkasama sa Kwento ng Pasko.”

“I’ve done the Station ID of TFC in 2004, ang tagal na nun, 9 years later I get to do the Station ID again,” Salonga said. “Pero talagang in-insist ko we have to do it in New York City, because that’s my city.”

For ABS-CBN’s Station ID shoot, Salonga was joined by everyday New Yorkers, TFC subscribers and avid fans.

Fan Jared Babuschak said, “It’s a huge honor for me, I feel like it could be a once in a lifetime opportunity and I’m very excited because ever since I was a child I was a fan of Broadway.”

Meantime, other One Kapamilya Go stars like The Voice Philippines champion Mitoy Yonting, runner-up Klarisse de Guzman and finalists Janice Javier, and Myk Perez arrived in New York last night, ready to perform for their kababayans tomorrow.

“First of all, I would like to welcome myself, here in New York City,” Yontig joked. “First time ko po kasi kaya excite na excited ako. Kita-kita po tayo mga kapamilya!”

Fans in New York say they’re ecstatic that for the first time One Kapamilya Go is being held in the East Coast.

TFC subscriber Alma May Hacket said, “It’s a big deal because it’s like all Filipinos are gathered once again, and enjoying each other just being a Filipino, enjoying al these talented artists from the Philippines. So it’s fun.”

Ted Martinez said, “So talagang super super fun sa ABS-CBN, super excited to see them live.”

Luchie Del Rosario said, “Thank you na nabigyan ng opportunity yung East Coast na mabisita naman ng mga Kapamilya Stars.”

Meanwhile, Gerald Anderson, another One Kapamilya Go star, almost did not make it to New York, after being caught in a Manila traffic jam and almost missing his flight.

“Sa isang stoplight nagkaroon pa ng isang aksidente so, hindi gumagalaw yung kotse ko,” Anderson said. “So I had to take a motorcycle. So nagpara lang ako ng motor para makarating, kaya lahat ng luggage ko naiwan, pero ginawa ko lahat yan para sa mga kapamilya natin dito.”

With a star-studded line-up that also includes Sam Milby, Bamboo, Christine Reyes, Maja Salvador, Richard Yap and Jodi Sta. Maria, this is One Kapamilya Go’s biggest show yet.

Sam Milby said, “It’s gonna be a lot of fun. Also sa Great America sa California we’ll also be performing this Sunday. Please come out and watch it’ll be a lot of fun.”
