LOS ANGELES — The Catholic community in the San Fernando Valley recently celebrated a milestone –the 70th anniversary of Saint Catherine of Siena parish in Reseda.
Thousand of parishioners gathered at the church, kicking off a two-day long celebration of the church’s anniversary.
The morning mass was celebrated by Bishop-elect Alex Aclan, the second Filipino to become Bishop nominated by the Vatican — after bishop Oscar Solis. His homily included the message if unity and hope to all the faithful.
Filipino American faithful say the historic celebration is increasingly more important today.
Saint Catherine of Siena is always holding a fundraiser—with a goal of getting $100,000 dollars for church and school upgrades—-by raffling a brand new truck.
