REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A former Santa Ana, Calif. school teacher is facing federal charges for allegedly traveling to the Philippines to have sex with minors.

Federal authorities have charged former school teacher and softball coach Robert Ruben Ornelas with engaging in sexual conduct in a foreign place, producing child pornography and possessing child pornography.

Investigators claim he had gone to the Philippines in 2012 and videotaped himself having sex with a 14-year-old girl. He brought the tape back to the US.

Ornelas had reportedly admitted to authorities that he fathered children to a pair of sisters, and said he knew that one of the girls was 17 years old.

Ornelas was already facing child pornography charges after relatives found large amounts of what they believed was child pornography on his computer.

He is scheduled to appear in court next month.
