Singing the US national anthem at an NBA game is a dream come true for Philippine concert king and Kapamilya star Martin Nievera, and he is beyond excited to sing during the Golden State Warriors game versus the Milwaukee Bucks.
What makes it even more special is that the Bay Area team is celebrating Filipino Heritage Night.
Nievera was welcomed by fans as he arrived at the San Francisco International Airport via Philippine Airlines last night.
This dream gig for Nievera was supported by The Filipino Channel, as well as Omni Hotel.
“Oh my god, this is a dream come true for any singer, for any person to have anything associated with their basketball team and their favorite Bay Area,” said Nievera. “I mean, I grew up here… so there’s a lot riding on this.”
Nievera says he’s been a long-time Golden State Warriors fan, and especially loves two-time MVP Steph Curry.
“Steph Curry is one of my favorite players — being a three-point shooter myself,” he joked.
Nievera is also pleased that major sports teams are holding Filipino heritage nights all over the US.
“As a Filipino singer who’s being doing this for 34 years, I’m just so blessed that I was alive to see the day when not only a Filipino was honored, but the Filipino.”
Besides his appearance at the Warriors game tomorrow, fans can also catch him in concert at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas on March 25.
