Shriners Hospital treats and welcomes young Pinoy burn victim

SACRAMENTO, CA — Members of the Shriners, Lions Club, and well-wishers gathered in Sacramento to welcome Ronald Tejam to their medical facility, where he will receive treatment for his severe burns.

Shriners Hospital for Children is home to an internationally renowned team of burn surgeons and specialists, dedicated to providing the best patient care.

“[Ronald’s] going to get world class care from the finest physicians that specialize in this area,” said Dave Kubel.

It was in 2015 when Ronald accidentally sat in a boiling pan of oil, burning the majority of his back side.

Internet pleas to help Ronald and his family pay for the costly procedures and ongoing treatments caught the attention of the Shriners.

“It took us quite sometime because of the documentation, getting all the medical and travel clearances, and fortunately now Ronald is in Sacramento,” said Joselito Mendoza, from Mabuhay Shriners.

Ronald and his mother, Paz, will be taken in by Fil-Am Lynn Mitchell and her family.

The Mitchell family hosted Baby Cloe last year, when the Shriners brought her over as their first burn patient from the Philippines.

Lynn says she’s happy to help again.
