SF Pinoys use radio to engage kababayans

SAN FRANCISCO – Bryane Ucol and Andy Rubio, aka Idol Bryane and Kuya Andy of Fil-Am Radio, the only Filipino public radio program in northern California, say they enjoy providing kababayans content through what some say is a forgotten medium in the U.S.

After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area at around the same time, Ucol from Seattle and Rubio from Las Vegas, these two friends who work in the medical field, decided to help their fellow kababayans through the radio.

And what started out as a simple idea, has now interested many Filipinos.

For the past year Fil-Am Radio has provided helpful information to the Filipino community through professional guests such as attorneys, medical doctors and even members from the Philippine Consulate.
