SF Philippine Consulate holds annual Christmas celebration with carols, Simbang Gabi and Noche Buena

SAN FRANCISCO —  Colorful parols lit up Kalayaan Hall located on the first floor of the Philippine consulate in San Francisco.

This was all part of the 3rd annual “Paskuhan sa Konsulado.”

“This is our tribute to the entire Filipino community in the Bay Area and allow each and every Filipino to experience first-hand, flesh and blood, how it is to be a Filipino and how we celebrate Christmas. And if they cannot come home we’d like to being a Filipino Christmas here in the Bay Area,” said Con Gen. Henry Bensurto Jr.

Consul General Henry Bensurto said he and his consular staff spent many hours preparing for their Christmas concert.

He also brought in young people from the community to perform.

Bensurto said music is essential in celebrating a Filipino Christmas.

“It is very important for us to sing our praises and express ourselves through songs. Filipino are known for singing, for good voices, and for that talent and most especially during Christmas this is a time we pray by singing.”

Fil-Am leaders and community members from all the bay area were welcomed to this annual event.
