Art collaborations exhibit Filipino history and culture in SoMA San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO — The past, present, and future of Filipinos in San Francisco is on full display as a new exhibit at the City College of San Francisco.
Featured are three artistic collaborations that reflect the historically Filipino-occupied South of Market Neighborhood — or SoMA.
The South of Market Community Action Network, or SOMCAN, continues to be a multigenerational group that fights for all members of San Francisco.
“There’s this really handcrafted feel where you see the skyline done in blue tape and actually some of the lyrics the SOMCAN youth have written in various activist and artistic workshops, but also the different picket signs from winning campaigns they’ve done on the ground,” says Jerome Reyes.
