REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Is President Barack Obama on his own — at least when it comes to immediately fixing America’s broken immigration system?
In the past, the Senate’s most influential Democrats — Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, Majority Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois, Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York, and Sen. Patty Murray of Washington — have all pushed for Obama to use his executive powers to halt deportations.
But political experts say there’s now noticeable concern among Senate Democrats that the president’s executive orders on immigration could negatively impact them before the crucial midterm elections in November.
Lately these democratic senators have not issued statements on whether they want the president to issue the executive orders ahead of the November elections, saying the timing is entirely up to him.
As expected these democratic Senate leaders are still putting the blame on the Republican dominated house for this immigration mess — because they fail to take up the immigration reform bill for a vote.
SHOULD OBAMA PUSH THROUGH WITH EXECUTIVE ORDERS ON IMMIGRATION, EVEN WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF SENATE DEMOCRATS?
