San Francisco Fil-Am activists call for Duterte’s ouster, after State of the Nation address

SAN FRANCISCO — With this giant banner that blanketed most of the front side of the Philippine consulate in San Francisco, and with their chants, these Fil-Am activists and their allies made known their calls to oust President Rodrigo Duterte.

They were all eyes and ears as President Duterte gave his fourth State of the Nation address (SONA).

In his SONA, the president said that the Filipino people are its own enemies — referring to his campaign against corruption and red tape in government.

He said, “we are our own tormentors. We are our own demons.”

The president also called for the return of the death penalty for crimes involving drugs and plunder.

According to reports — senate President Vicente Sotto said the death penalty bill will be one of the first measures to be debated in the senate during the 18th Congress.
