NEW YORK — This $120,000 Steinway Model B Spirio piano is a new high-resolution player piano that brings to life some of the world’s greatest music, performed by master artists like Lang Lang or Yuja Wang, on command.
It’s like hearing private recitals of world-class musicians, in your own living room.
“Ito sobrang high-tech, kasi kina-capture nila by light, yung movement,” says musician, composer & conductor Ryan Cayabyab. “Nung tiklado, yung movement nung hammer, kina-capture nila yun, yo the thousand increment for example yung pinak-mahinang, or yung malakas na ganyaan… nahuhuli nung technology.”
Cayabyab recently recorded 9 of his repertoires at the Steinway & Sons studio in New York, and Spirio owners will now have access to the entire roster of 1,700 Steinway artists, including Cayabyab’s music.
“Parang contribution ito ng steinway Manila so that may music ng philippines na kasama dun sa catalogue ng Steinway… for example, gutso mo makinig ng yuja wang, lang lang, na kung isno man ang kialla na gmawa ng recording, parang andun yung artists kasi parehong pareho ng tugtug.”
Cayabyab’s recent performance at the Steinway hall, together with local artists, aimed to raise funds for St. Aedan’s church choir led by Joseph Legaspi – the director of music at St Peter’s Univeristy.
“Paano ka makaka-concentrate sa misa kung sintonado ang piano – so were raising money for one new piano, we’re reimagining the choir area,” said Legaspo.
“We only perform original Pilipino music. As a matter of fact every time I’m here in the US, when I’m asked to do a concert, performances, kailangan original Pilipino music,” said Cayabyab.
Cayabyab’s music he recorded for Steinway is exclusively available to Spirio owners only.
