Retired Fil-Am general disapproves of possible Trump presidency

LAS VEGAS – After Donald Trump laid out his foreign policy in a speech on Monday he continued to mention what some may call questionable tactics in safe guarding the United States.

Trump has previously mentioned that he is fine with using torture, waterboarding in particular, and that he will seek out and kill the families of terror suspects.

“I hope he doesn’t win,” said Taguba. “I know he’s not going to win. I’m going to vote against him.”

Retired U.S. Army Major General Antonio Taguba was at a recent discussion for AARP in Las Vegas. There the general said that he hopes Trump stays further behind in the race.

Taguba, whose 35-year military career included authoring a report on abuse of detainees held at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, said trump is wrong for trying to change the rules to fit his agenda, like prosecuting U.S. citizens suspected of terrorism at Guantanamo Bay, which is illegal.

“Some of this stuff he’s saying on the media is really atrocious,” said Taguba. “They’re egregious comments and it’s not helping his campaign for that matter because his staff are not serving him very well to let him know the Constitution really prevents this stuff from happening.”

Taguba disapproves of Trump’s foreign policy, saying his actions and proposed plans will jeopardize the relationships of allies and aggravate connections with hostile countries.

“My opinion: I don’t think he’s going to win,” said Taguba. “Secondly, if he does win we’re going to be in big trouble because we’re not just dealing with our country, we’re dealing with our friends.”

In his speech on Monday about fighting ISIS, Trump did not mention whether ground troops would be needed but he did say he would work with NATO, going back to an earlier threat saying the U.S. would might not meets its obligations to the western military alliance.

Gen Taguba should ask Filipino voters to use our voting power in demanding whatever benefits due us. We have to unite now or be ignored forever.
