Recreational marijuana legal in Canada

Recreational marijuana is now legal across Canada, making it the first G-7 country to do so, and the second country in the world next to Uruguay.

The green light is on to buy and use recreational marijuana across Canada, and reactions were varied to legalized pot.

From long lines at government retail stores, to website pictures of what products are available to buy.

This Filipino restaurant downtown recently had “Mr. Pot Roast” on the menu, in honor of Canada’s legalization.

“We thought it would be a nice promotion if we dress up our suckling pig and Since its the legalization of Cannabis, we thought why not celebrate it,” said Matte Laurel. “This is the way to go to combat addiction and make sure kids in the communities are safe by imposing strict rukes and regulations and I’m very grateful Canada is way ahead of this.”

“The crimes gonna be lesser, nobody gonna sell marijuana on the street, its gonna be legalized.”

Rules vary from province to province, including the legal age of either 18 or 19, where to buy pot, and where one can legally smoke it.

Possession limit is 30 grams in public, but there is no limit on home use. Smoking pot while driving is a no-no. But despite restrictions, mothers like Nelia Lopez are worried.

“Some kids maybe won’t have the control for the substance, to use it to abuse themselves that’s a different part, my main concern now.”

The Cannabis Act was a campaign promise kept by prime minister Justin Trudeau to keep marijuana away from underage users.
