Professional athletes support Fil-Am led anti-violence nonprofit, United Playaz

A Filipino-led anti-violence youth program in San Francisco is getting financial support from two prominent professional athletes.

Former NFL quarterback and current social justice advocate Colin Kaepernick, and Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, are donating $20,000 to the United Playaz.

Filipino-American Rudy Corpuz is the founder and director of United Playaz, and has been active in advocating non-violence in the community through programs such as his annual gun buyback.

The money stems from Kaepernick’s 10-day initiative to donate $10,000 to a non-profit organization — which is being matched from a different celebrity each day.
