Showtime Shawn Porter gave Errol the Truth Spence the biggest challenge of his young career.
But after an 11th round knockdown, and answers for whatever Showtime threw at him, the undefeated Spence walked away with a split decision win and the WBC and IBF Welterweight titles.
While the fight was for the two belts, it was also a battle to see how could be the next opponent for Manny Pacquiao, in what has become a highly competitive welterweight division.
For Porter, despite the loss, he still hopes he can make a match with Pacquiao whom he used to spar with.
“We both were going for Manny, I don’t know if Manny was the one making that decision there but I hope he’s going to consider me because that will still be a fantastic fight for me and the world.”
For Spence, who was challenged by former champion Danny Garcia after the fight, Pacquiao is one of his targets, as he aims for the Pacman’s WBA belt.
“We’re gonna go and look and see who’s the next great opponent. If I can get Pacquiao or if nothing happens with Terrence, or anybody else then we’ll fight Danny Garcia or anyone else. I think me and Shawn had a great fight so you know we might do that again.”
However, with the fight turning out highly competitive, the two may be looking at a rematch, especially after ending their press conference, which began with praise, ended with trash talk.
As the two fought it out in the ring, the Pacman had a different kind of dominating performance in Dubai, playing in an MPBL game, scoring 35 points.
