Poll: Immigrants viewed more positively in California compared to whole U.S.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Voters in California, the state with the largest number of Filipinos in the US, see immigrants as positive for American society compared to the United States as a whole, according to a new USC Dornsife/LA Times poll released Sunday.

The survey shows that 59 percent of California voters, compared to 49 percent of US voters, think immigrants strengthen society. Meanwhile, only 35 percent of California voters and 43 percent of US voters think they weaken it.

But the same survey shows that 41 percent of California voters think immigrants make it difficult for them financially, while only 10 percent say immigrants make it easier.
