REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – President Benigno Aquino III delivered his speech before leaders of 41 nations on Tuesday morning.

The UN Climate Summit 2014 was called by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. It is a gathering of world leaders who are urged to have a global agreement to reduce greenhouse emissions.

Aquino said the Philippines continues to be vulnerable to the impact of climate change despite being a low emitter of greenhouse gases.

He called on the world to stop the protracted debate over individual strategies and instead focus on uniting to address climate change.

Aquino said a country should not wait for another country to act before deciding its own actions to combat pressing problems, such as the effects of global warming.
