BOLINGBROOK, IL — An estimated 7,000 Pinoys participated in the the biggest Filipino American festival in the idwest on Saturday.
The fourth annual Piyesta Pinoy in Illinois, hosted by the Philippine American Cultural Foundation, featured a wide spread of Filipino music, culture, and food.
“Para sa aming mga Filipino Americans who cannot go home to the Philippines, it’s our way of celebrating fiesta, here in the United States,” said Ruben Salazar, cultural director of PACF.
The free-admission fiesta hosted multiple games throughout the day, such as a pandesal-eating contest and pabitin for kids. Even non Filipinos took part in the celebration.
