SAN FRANCISCO – Yesterday, Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled to the world the highly anticipated new Apple products at the Apple Headquarters in Cupertino, Calif.
Cook first introduced the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The new iPhones feature an increase in screen size. The iPhone 6 measures at 4.7 inches while the 6 Plus measures at 5.5.
Both iPhones are thinner than previous models.
The iPhone 6 and 6+ also sport curved edges, faster processors and what Apple calls “Retina HD” displays.
The iPhone 6 will have more than one million pixels while the 6 Plus will have two million.
Apple also announced a new mobile payment system in what they are calling “Apple Pay” where consumers can tap their iPhones to pay at the counter for everyday purchases.
And their biggest announcement came last when Cook introduced the “Apple Watch”.
The watch features interchangeable bands, touch features, a flexible retina display, a customizable face, and different information tracking capabilities.
People are reportedly already forming lines outside of Apple stores in New York and Tokyo in anticipation of the new iPhones.
Meanwhile, kababayans in San Francisco weigh in on the hype and excitement over the new Apple products.
“No matter what iPhone comes out, people will buy it,” said Lourdes Merchant.
“A lot of people will get it just because they can say they have the new iPhone 6 and they can say that it’s so cool and it’s different,” said Cynthia Nyeh.
“The hype just builds everything up. In all my classes everyone is talking about the iPhone 6. It’s just anticipation for it,” said Dana Paltao.
“I think it’s just a status symbol where iPhones were the first true smart phones and then Samsung comes out with something completely innovated, more affordable, and was just better than Apple,” said James Brillantes. “Now Apple is just trying to find a way to compete with Samsung.”
If you are thinking of purchasing the iPhone 6, it starts at $199 while the iPhone 6+ starts at $299. Both phones go on sale Sept. 19 but you can begin pre-ordering them this Friday, Sept. 12.
If you’re wondering about the Apple Watch, they go on sale early next year starting at $349.
