REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Pinoy student Dominic Co is among the five grand prize winners of this year’s Microsoft Youth Spark Challenge for Change – a contest that seeks to empower youth to develop or expand projects for social good using Microsoft technology.
Co’s award-winning idea seeks to promote nationalism and appreciation of Philippine literature with his website libroko.com.
It’s an online resource and forum that helps students better understand Filipino literary works such as Philippine national hero Jose Rizal’s “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo”.
Co and the four other winners from India, Mexico and the US will travel to the Amazon to learn about social entrepreneurship, leadership, conservation in the Amazon rainforest.
Each of them will also receive $2,500 cash to kick-start their projects and Microsoft products.
