Pinoy producer nominated for two Tony Awards

NEW YORK – It’s award season on Broadway and three-time Tony-winning Filipino is up for two more Tony Awards.

Pinoy producer Jhett Tolentino’s play “Hand to God” received the 2015 nomination for Best Play.

“Hand to God” also received nominations for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Featured Actress and Best Director.

Tolentino’s “This is our Youth” starring Michael Cera also received a Tony nomination for best revival of a play.

Meantime, the Broadway revival of “The King and I”, with about 13 Filipinos and Fil-Ams in the cast, also received Tony nominations, including the Best Revival Musical.

Ruthie Miles who played Imelda Marcos in “Here Lies Love” is nominated for best Actress in a Featured Role in “The King and I.”

The Tonys will be handed out on June 7 at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

    Did Ruthie Miles and Jhett Tolentino got the awards? or any Special Awards? I saw Ruthie Ann Miles perform in Here Lies Love in New York in 2007. She really is a talented person.
