Pinoy Panawagan: Sibling petition

Jonathan sent us this question regarding a sibling petition.

“My sister petitioned my brother in the Philippines. The priority date is December 11, 1995. It’s under the F4 preference category. It’s been 25 years now and still no update. I checked the visa bulletin and it looks like it already passed. Is there a way to follow up?”

Atty. Lou Tancinco answering for Pinoy Panawagan:

For those waiting for priority dates to be current especially those under the fourth and third preference, you have to be vigilant and be checking the availability of priority dates from time to time, so that you will not miss your opportunity to immigrate. If you have the case number for your F4 petition, you should contact the National Visa Center and find out why no visa checklist or notices are being sent to you.

An inquiry may be sent by visiting the National Visa Center website and accomplish a public inquiry form. Otherwise, you may wish to contact your professional legal counsel to assist you in communicating with the National Visa Center.
