Joining us now via Skype from San Francisco is Pinoy Panawagan counsel Attorney Lou Tancinco to talk about modern day slavery and human trafficking.
Attorney Lou, the article written by Alex Tizon, “My Family’s Slave,” triggered mixed reactions from our Filipino immigrant community. Some condemned the Tizons for their abusive treatment of Lola Pulido, their elderly housekeeper.
We’ve seen in the story by Steve Angeles how there are still victims of modern day slavery and human trafficking to this day. Many of them feel more trapped because of their unlawful immigration status.
What course of action can they take if they are in this situation?
