SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Filipino caregiver who was caught on tape allegedly abusing an elderly patient entered a not guilty plea in court.

Russel Torralba was extradited from Canada back to San Diego to face elder neglect and Lewd act charges.

Torralba pled not guilty during his Tuesday court appearance. He was held on a $200,000 bail.

In 2010, the family of his 98-year-old patient had caught him and another Filipino caregiver, Alfredo Ruiz, allegedly performing sexual acts on their patient.

Torralba eventually fled to Canada where he was arrested last month.

Ruiz had pleaded not guilty during his December arraignment.

Torralba and his co-defendant Ruiz are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 20.
