NEW YORK – It’s every designer’s dream to show their fashion collection in the tents at New York Fashion Week.

Dubai-based Pinoy fashion designer Furne One’s “Amato” brand has showcased at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week not just once, but two years in a row now.

“Amato” is this year’s grand finale at the Art Hearts Fashion Show, presented by AIDS Healthcare Foundation at the Lincoln Center, the official hub for New York Fashion Week.

Furne One said, “I’m so happy and flattered that they invited me because not everyone is given this chance.”

White is the new black for Amato’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection. “It’s my vision in white, a collage of everything that I like, like different kids of laces, different kinds of crystals, different kinds of acrylics, ceramics,” said the Filipino designer, “So I mix them all up.”

“Amato” is an Italian word that means beloved – and One’s collection got lots of love from the crowd, especially one ultra modern wedding gown.

“It looked sexy, classic and very elegant at the same time,” said Maria Czarkowski, editor for Vetta magazine. “I just think it was amazing. I think every bride would love to get married with one of his dresses.”

“Pinoys are really very proud of him. Hopefully, soon enough he’ll make it and have a collection of his own in the runway,”said Ivan Gamboa, a staff member at Fashion Week.

Amato’s extravagant and artistic designs are popular among celebrities.

Jennifer Lopez rocked an Amato dress in her “Live It Up” music video with Pitbull. Katy Perry wore Amato during her world tours, awards shows, and music videos like “Wide Awake.”

Beyonce’s tour book for the Mrs. Carter Show featured an Amato haute couture dress.

Many other celebrities like Cher, Heidi Klum, Lil Kim, Shakira, Tyra Banks, and even Paris Hilton have been caught on camera wearing an Amato haute couture.

“It’s a dream to dress celebrities,” said Furne One. “I always believe that Filipino designers are gifted.”

After making a mark in the Haute couture world, One says he is now ready to conquer the “ready to wear” fashion industry. Amato’s designs will be seen next in the Middle East Fashion Week in Dubai early October.
