LAS VEGAS – A Filipino couple in Las Vegas was sentenced to up to eight years in prison for mortgage lending fraud.
Authorities say Alex Soria and Sonia Rodis conducted a fraudulent mortgage and foreclosure scam where they promised homeowners that their mortgages will disappear while they maintain the property title.
The couple collected about $63,000 in payments from their victims, a number of whom are Filipino.
The judge sentenced Soria to up to eight years in Nevada state prison.
Rodis received the same sentence, but it was suspended for a probation period not to exceed five years.
The couple was ordered to pay restitution totaling over $63,000.
