REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A new World Boxing Organization title for history making Filipino boxer Donnie “Ahas” Nietes.
After his successful title defense at Pinoy Pride 33 in Carson, Calif., the WBO has declared Nietes as a Super Champion.
Nietes, who attended the WBO convention in Florida this week has held WBO world titles since 2007.
His eight years as a champion have made him the longest running Filipino world champion.
The WBO awards Super Champion status to fighters who have achieved great feats while holding the WBO world title belt.
Nietes joins a small and elite group of WBO Super Champions, which includes Manny Pacquiao.
